• Question: have you ever built an actual engine that is in a car

      I did a project at Uni to build an engine, weld a car chassis and fit all the parts together. It was mostly to teach us how everything worked and learn some practical skills like using hand tools. Our welding skills weren’t that great though, and the University didn’t trust us to actually drive the car haha!

      In my day time job, I design plane engines (Rolls-Royce don’t make cars anymore). I have designed a part that might be in a future aeroplane engine, but it’s not likely to be used for a few years.
