The short answer is no! Engineering has such a wide variety of applications that I believe anyone who is interested in how things work can find a career that suits them. Anything from medical surgical tools, to sports equipment, space ships and aeroplanes! Engineering is about applying science to the real world. So the great thing is, that you’ll often be able to see the benefit of your work. I had a friend in Rolls-Royce who was really into downhill mountain biking. He took a holiday in Canada and ended up not coming back to the UK because he found his dream job design engineering professional mountain bikes. So it’s that easy to change industry if you want to move around a bit! 🙂
