Well, I didn’t really – I did a degree in Engineering Science, which is kind of all of engineering, and then got a job doing the things that I enjoyed the most.

I also chose quite a broad engineering course (electrical and mechanical) and looked for jobs that included the lectures I enjoyed the most. I had a materials lecture on single crystal turbine blades that was fascinating, so I decided to look for jobs in aviation.

For me I found I had an interest in Robotics at college and started looking into the types of jobs that could involve. By the time I left university I found my current job which would enable me to use my degree skills whilst alos gaining a broad engineering experiance.
The key thing is to try as much as possible till you find something you like then investigate that area further to see what you can do there.
