• Question: when you make or build or design a car and sometimes it seems impossible what do you do to get back on your feet and carry on with project and if something goes wrong do you have to build the whole car again or do you just go on to another project or do you try to fix it and change it even if it takes longer than building a new car

McLaren had this problem a couple of years ago – it’s always difficult to throw away the product of so much hard work, but sometimes it’s the right thing to do. I think great engineers remain objective about their work and are not afraid to admit that they were wrong and scrap their work in favour of a better idea. It takes a lot of courage to do that though, and a lot of personal confidence.
